Corporate Sustainable & Social Responsibility

Anderson Swan Hunter Ltd (ASH) provides environmental consultancy and auditing services to those who want to achieve sustainable business practices.  The company is classed as a Micro Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) with less than 10 employees.


All Directors are equal share holders and hold equal responsibility for the running of the company.


We practice what we preach and lead by example.  Anderson Swan Hunter Ltd will:


  • Support our CSR with an Environmental and Health & Safety Policy that will be made available on the andersonswanhunter.co.uk web page.
  • Maintain all professional qualifications required to undertake ASH business
  • Comply with all applicable legislation relating ASH businesses 
  • Submit tax returns in line with HMRC requirements
  • Ensure that Directors are equally responsible for the running of ASH business
  • Encourage and support staff to become actively involved in local charities and non profitable business groups 
  • Actively contribute to Women in Business and Women in Leadership initiatives and groups
  • Act professionally in every aspect of ASH business and lead by example
  • Ensure that we treat everyone we meet with dignity and respect
  • Ensure that we treat any data we hold in line with relevant data protection legislation

Environmental Policy

 

Anderson Swan Hunter Ltd provides environmental consultancy and auditing services to those who want to achieve sustainable business practices.  All Directors are environmental specialists who have extensive environmental protection and enhancement experience at local and strategic levels.   


We practice what we preach and lead by example. In order to achieve sustainable business practices Anderson Swan Hunter will:


  • Ensure that all staff have received environmental training and have gained appropriate environmental qualifications. 
  • Demonstrate continuous environmental professional development through professional membership of environmental bodies such as the Institute of Environmental Sciences (IES) and the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).  
  • Undertake an annual review of ASH business practices to identify significant environmental aspects, impacts and opportunities and set targets to bring about environmental improvement.  
  • Ensure that the procurement of equipment and tools necessary to carry out ASH business takes into account the best practical environmental option.    
  • Use video conferencing facilities where possible to reduce travel and CO2 emissions related to ASH business.  
  • Store and share records electronically and have adopt a ‘No Print’ policy.   
  • Actively encourage staff to participate in local community environmental projects and initiatives.   
  • Review this policy annually and publish it on andersonswanhunter.co.uk web site to allow public scrutiny and accountability.

Health , Safety & Well Being

Statement of Intent

It is our intent to demonstrate an ongoing and determined commitment to improving health and safety at work throughout our organisation.  


We will ensure the health and safety at work of all our people and any other people who may be affected by our work activities. We will comply with the requirements of health and safety legislation.  


We will lead industry by promoting best practice and exceeding the guidance of the Health and Safety Executive and other regulatory bodies.

  

This policy reflects our commitment to ensuring that health and safety at work is paramount to the business, and that effective health and safety actively contributes to our success.


Health and Safety Policy


AWARENESS: All our Directors have an awareness and understanding of health and safety hazards and risks that affect our business.


  • Health and Safety Policy statement Adequate resources will be provided to ensure all our people and any sub-contractors are aware of this policy and committed to its effective implementation.
     
  • Communication and consultation There will be active open communication and consultation between all our people and any sub-contractors. Health and safety will be integrated into our communications, wherever appropriate.
     
  • Management roles and responsibilities Roles and responsibilities for health and safety will be defined, as necessary, within job descriptions or profiles.  Directors will ensure that: adequate resources are provided for health and safety; health and safety is adequately assessed, controlled and monitored; and our people are actively involved on matters that affect health and safety.
     
  • Hazard identification: We will identify our workplace health and safety hazards. We will inform our people and any sub-contractors, as appropriate, of these workplace hazards. We will require any sub-contractors to identify health and safety hazards that may impact on our work activities.
     

COMPETENCE: All our Directors have the competence to undertake their work with minimum risks to health and safety.


  • Health and safety training All our people will be adequately instructed and trained on the health and safety issues that affect them, and the safe working practices that should be followed. We will ensure the health and safety competence of any sub-contractors.
     
  • Risk assessment and management We will assess the risks associated with health and safety hazards in the workplace. All our people will be informed of the health and safety hazards and risks that affect their work. We will take action to prevent, reduce or control risks to an acceptable level and reduce the potential for incidents and accidents. We will require any subcontractors to identify health and safety risks that may impact on our work activities
     

COMPLIANCE: Our work activities achieve compliance with legislation, and our people are empowered to take action to minimise health and safety risks.


  • Incident investigation We will report and investigate accidents, incidents and near misses to drive improvement in our health and safety management. Any lessons learned from such events will be used to take corrective action to prevent recurrences.
     
  • Sub-contractor improvement We will engage and collaborate with any sub-contractors to ensure their: health and safety capability and competence fulfil our expectations; health and safety performance is monitored and reviewed; and work activities have minimal health and safety impacts on our activities.
     

EXCELLENCE: Anderson Swan Hunter Ltd., will constantly encourage, develop, review and share “health and safety good practice” both internally and externally


  • Influencing stakeholders, we will only work with joint venture partners and clients who are willing to meet and achieve our health and safety expectations. We will engage and influence stakeholders to drive improvements in health and safety.
     
  • Work-related health We will assess our occupational health risks. All our people will be informed of the occupational health risks that affect their work. We will take action to prevent, reduce or control occupational health risks to an acceptable level and reduce the potential for ill health, including assessing all our people’s fitness for work. Health surveillance will be conducted to satisfy health and safety legislation
     
  • The wellbeing of our people will be monitored on a regular basis and any enhancements as decided by the Directors will be incorporated into the H&S policy  
     

Delivering our policy

Our policy will be delivered by: generating a culture that does not tolerate threats to health and safety; and ensuring the real involvement of all our people and any sub- contractors.
